Sensory Tables
A sensory table offers new ways for audience members to interact with a story on the stage. I started making sensory tables when it seemed some audience members were antsy before and after shows.
Below is a sensory table from The Wizard of Oz. At this table, participants of all ages and abilities are invited to feel the lion’s mane, touch a tin like the one the tin can is made of, do some baking with Auntie Em, and more!

These tables can work in conjunction with, but are importantly different from, a backstage sensory tour, where participants are able to be guided around a set and touch costume pieces.
